Haywards Heath gets a mention in the English Civil War records in 1642, however it is a relatively modern town as its size has considerably increased following the arrival of the London to Brighton train line in 1841. Haywards Heath has excellent commuter links thanks to the London to Brighton train line and its links to the A23. The 2011 census showed a population of 27,057. The town is due to expand further with further modernisation to the town and residential additions to Bolnore Village.
